About Parno Graszt
Parno Graszt is a Hungarian Romani folk ensemble formed in 1987 in the village of Paszab. The family-based group performs the traditional music of northeastern Hungary using voices, guitars, tambura, accordion and household percussion. Its recordings include the debut album Rávágok a zongorára, released internationally as Hit the Piano, and the song “Már nem szédülök,” which the group performed in Hungary’s A Dal 2016 selection.
In 2013, Parno Graszt performed in the Hungarian Heritage program at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The ensemble has also brought its communal, dance-led performance format to Budapest’s Sziget Festival.
