About Summoning
Summoning is an Austrian atmospheric black metal project formed in Vienna in 1993 and centred on multi-instrumentalists Protector and Silenius. Synthesizers, programmed rhythms and lyrics drawn largely from J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth shape albums including Minas Morgul, Dol Guldur, Stronghold and Oath Bound.
Summoning have not performed live or mounted concert tours, remaining a studio project throughout their history. Their catalogue therefore has no venue appearances extending beyond Vienna.
