About Throwing Muses
Throwing Muses are an American alternative rock band formed in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1981 by singer-guitarists Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly. They became the first US band signed to 4AD, releasing albums including Throwing Muses, House Tornado, The Real Ramona and University. Their best-known songs include “Not Too Soon” and “Bright Yellow Gun.”
Throwing Muses opened selected arena dates for R.E.M. on the Green World Tour in 1989. They followed those concerts with appearances at Reading Festival in 1991 and Glastonbury in 1992.
