About The Books
The Books were an American experimental duo formed by Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong. Their records set acoustic guitar and cello against electronic editing, sampled speech and found sound; key albums include Thought for Food, The Lemon of Pink, Lost and Safe and The Way Out.
Following Lost and Safe in 2005, The Books toured with an audiovisual performance that synchronized live instrumentation and sampled voices to projected film. They returned to the road after The Way Out in 2010, and the duo ended in 2012, closing the live partnership between Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong.
